‘Building Skills for the Future' Event
On 10th May ATT hosted an employer’s day held in partnership with ConstructionSkills, the construction industry giant and Construction Awards Alliance (CAA), the largest construction awarding organisation.
Our early event kicked off with mugs of ‘builders’ tea and bacon butties all beautifully prepared by the Operations Director Colin!
Our event was supported by some of the leading national construction contractors for a morning of presentations, networking and providing valuable advice and guidance to our learners.
The aim of the morning was to showcase our eight young people who have just completed an in depth pre-apprenticeship programme, with intentions of providing employment opportunities.
Presentations were made by Paul Saunders, Business Development Director at ATT, Claire Daly representing ConstructionSkills, Cliff Pooley from CAA, Jon Thaxton, boxer and local legend and Sally Moore from Build Norfolk.
The employers were able to witness the young people in action demonstrating their plastering skills. This was followed by a ‘speed dating’ style interview where the employers spent time with the individuals to gain a better understanding of the learner’s goals and ambitions.
Paul Saunders from ATT said
“ATT have some talented young people who are looking for progression. We are delighted to be working with key employers and stakeholders who operate in the construction and business sectors. These partnerships will provide employment opportunities and economic growth for the East of England”.
The morning was a big success and as a result five formal interviews are being held this week for apprenticeship programmes with one young person attending a work trial this week.
With many networking events around Norfolk we were conscious to make the most of the employers valuable time and to ensure the event was of mutual benefit. Through this event ATT has established itself as a flexible route for employers to gain access to their future apprentices, training and assessment.
