Intermediate Cleaning and Environmental Services
There are no specified prior learning requirements. However, learners may find it helpful to have already achieved a level 1 qualification.
To complete the Apprenticeship the apprentice must have completed the following:
Mandatory units:The units below have to be completed successfully. In addition to these units businesses can decide along with their Tutor/Assessor which additional units to complete to meet the needs of their business.
- Dealing with routine and non-routine waste
- Health and safety for the cleaning and support services industry
- Working with customers and others in the cleaning and support services industry.
While completing the qualification you must also choose from 16 additional units to suit your development needs or those of your business.
Other SkillsThe qualifications are achieved through teaching, learning on the job, e-learning, workshops and assessment.
Apprentices will also obtain English and Maths to level 1 or equivalent if they have not achieved this already, learn about Employee Rights & Responsibilities (ERR) and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
On completion of the Apprenticeship the apprentice must be able to undertake the full range of duties, in the range of circumstances appropriate to the job, confidently and competently to the standard set by the industry.
The programme has a minimum recommended duration of 12 months with 110-120 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).
Progression routes in further education include moving onto a level 3 in Cleaning Supervision Skills or a level 2 in enterprise, functional skills and employability skills. You can also look to begin your career in a variety of cleaning roles.
