Management Apprenticeship

Successful businesses require great management. As this does not come naturally to most of us, learning management skills is very important. This Apprenticeship is for those who are working in, or would like to work in an entry level management role. It is also suitable for those who are new to management. The Apprenticeship provides learners with the knowledge and skills they need to operate as a successful manager.

Advanced Management

  • There is no specific recommended prior learning requirements, however learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 qualification.
  • Mandatory Group

    The units below have to be completed successfully. In addition to these businesses can decide along with their Tutor/Assessor, which additional units to complete to meet the needs of their business.

    • Manage team performance
    • Principles of people management
    • Principles of business
    • Principles of leadership and management
    • Manage personal and professional development

    And then choose from a number of options to meet your development needs, including:

    • Manage individuals’ performance
    • Manage individuals’ development in the workplace
    • Chair and lead meetings
    • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
    • Manage conflict within a team
    • Procure products and/or services
    • Implement change
    • Implement and maintain business continuity plans and processes
    • Collaborate with other departments
    • Support remote or virtual teams
    • Participate in a project
    • Develop and maintain professional networks
    • Develop and implement an operational plan
    • Prepare for and support quality audits
    • Conduct quality audits
    • Manage a budget
    • Manage a project
    • Manage business risk
    • Manage knowledge in an organisation
    • Manage redundancy and redeployment
    • Encourage innovation
    • Negotiate in a business environment
    • Develop a presentation

    Transferrable Skills
    English, Maths and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to level 2 or equivalent.


    Employee Rights & Responsibilities (ERR)
    All apprentices need to show that they have a good understanding of employee rights and responsibilities.


    Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
    This consists of important skills that are needed in the work environment and include:
    • Creative Thinking
    • Independent Enquiry
    • Reflective Learning
    • Team Working
    • Self Management
    • Effective Participation

    The qualifications are achieved through teaching, learning on the job, e-learning, workshops and assessment.
    On completion of the Apprenticeship the apprentice must be able to undertake the full range of duties, in the range of circumstances appropriate to the job, confidently and competently to the standard set by the industry.
  • Minimum recommended duration of programme is 12 months
  • Completion of the qualification will allow the learner to work in a wide variety of sectors including business, retail, leisure and tourism. It further opens up the opportunity to progress to higher management roles.
    Progression on to the Level 4 and 5 in management, or FE and university.

Team Leadership Apprenticeship

Team leading is an essential skill in any kind of work environment. Good team leaders ensure that their teams work effectively and efficiently, improving the productivity of a team. The aim of the Apprenticeship is to provide learners with all the skills and knowledge they will need to run a successful team.

Intermediate Team Leading

  • There is no specific recommended prior learning requirements, however learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.
  • Mandatory Group

    • Understand business

    • Principles of equality and diversity in the workplace
    • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
    • Manage team performance
    • Manage individuals’ performance
    • Chair and lead meetings
    • Manage conflict within a team
    • Procure products and/or services
    • Collaborate with other departments
    • Participate in a project
    • Encourage innovation
    • Contribute to meetings in a business environment
    • Health and safety procedures in the workplace
    • Store and retrieve information
    • Handle mail
    • Employee rights and responsibilities
    • Deliver customer service
    • Understand customers
    • Resolve customer service problems
    • Negotiate in a business environment
    • Develop a presentation
    • Deliver a presentation
    • Resolve customers’ complaints

    Transferrable Skills
    Where GCSE grade of A*-C in English, Maths or ICT (or equivalent) has not been achieved you will be required to complete the functional skills up to Level 1. If you have a D qualification at GCSE English/Maths we will assist you to up your level.
