Accountancy Apprenticeships

We deliver Accountancy Apprenticeships through our parent company TCHC. They're a registered provider of AAT finance courses. TCHCs highly qualified, experienced and supportive tutors will provide you with the inspiration, mentoring and knowledge needed to achieve your qualification. AAT Accountancy and Finance courses are the leading qualifications in the finance sector. They guarantee a rigorous, up to date standard and are industry focused with a global reputation. They count towards the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). Choose an AAT course and you will be studying for the industry standard. We currently offer Apprenticeships as a level 3 Accounts Assistant and a level 4 Professional Accountant Technician

Level 3 AAT Accounts Assistant

  • Individual employers set the criteria, but this is likely to include 5 GCSE’s including maths and English.
  • Successful completion of the Apprenticeship will award a Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Level 3) and a Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping (Level 2). Apprentices must also achieve Functional Skills level 2 maths and English, if they have not already attained an equivalent qualification.
  • The Apprenticeship is expected to last between 15 - 18 months.
  • An Assistant Accountant provides support to internal and external customers and works within a practice or alternatively within the finance function of an organisation. Part of this role involves assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. In addition, the Assistant Accountant may find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.

    On top of ensuring full competency as an Assistant Accountancy, this standard will provide you with the foundation to progress in the Accounting sector, including: Assistant Accountant, Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant.


Level 4 AAT Professional Accountant Technician

  • Individual employers will identify entry requirements in terms of previous qualifications, training or other criteria. Most candidates will have Level 2 Maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade C or above), ideally as part of 5 GCSE A-C grades or other comparable qualifications.
  • Successful completion of the Apprenticeship will award a Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4). Apprentices must also achieve Functional Skills level 2 maths and English, if they have not already attained an equivalent qualification.
  • The Apprenticeship is a minimum of 18 months.
  • Individuals in the role of a Professional Accounting/Tax Technician will have responsibility for creating, and/or verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information within the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation. This will be performed to meet relevant ethical, professional and legal standards, and will utilise the individual’s knowledge of the business systems and processes, as well as standard accounting and tax practices. This role may exist in an accounting practice, a professional services company, HMRC or the accounting function of a business or other organisation.

    Potential roles from this Apprenticeship could include: Assistant Auditor, Assistant Management Accountant, Assistant Financial Accountant, Accounts Payable and Expenses Supervisor, Commercial Analyst, Payroll Manager, Senior Bookkeeper, Senior Financial Officer.
